United Nations sustainable development goals

The U.N. Sustainable Development goals have influenced both my thinking and my actions. One of the goals is to have clean and affordable energy. This goal promotes using less fossil fuels.  Fossil fuels are made from dead organisms that are broken down over  millions of years. In addition burning them causes pollution. As a result I am turning off lights when I’m not in that room. Also when Im not in a room I turn off the  televion and other electronics, that use electricity.In the future I see myself getting solar panels and continue to turn off lights and electronics when not in use. An influence I can have on the world is if everyone lived like me, we would burn a lot less fossil fuels, so fossil fuels would last longer and produce less pollution.

2016 presidential debate issues writing

Prior to examining some issues facing our country in the upcoming election, I realized I didn’t have an opinion on some of the issues. For example, I hadn’t thought about whether or not we should raise the minimum wage. After people talked about reasons to both raise it and not raise it I feel it does make sense to raise it because many people who work at those jobs are paying college loans or supporting families.In addition, prices are always going up so the argument of keeping it the same doesn’t support it. The people who are working those jobs will have greater debt because their wage is the same and everything else is more expensive.

Another thing I noticed about our discussion is people can get really emotional and argue with each other when they disagree. In conclusion, politics are not a good lunchroom discussion.

Open and Closed questions

Using open and closed questions are both helpful. If you want a quick answer use closed questions because they are around a one word answer. An example would be, what is your favorite color? That would be a one word answer. Open questions are helpful if you want to get a detailed and long explanation.An example would be: What did you do yesterday?

Google search tips are very helpful. If you are trying to find the definition of the word you can say define then the word. Example would be define nice. A pronunciation guide would come up and underneath that would be a definition.
